Usages:
For selective cultivation and counting of Fecal streptococcus with filter method.
 
Principle:
Peptone and yeast extract powder to provide nitrogen, vitamins and growth factors; maltose and lactose to fermentable sugars; sodium chloride to maintain osmotic balance; sodium azide inhibits gram-negative bacteria; Agar as medium coagulant; bromocresol purple as an indicator dye; Streptococcus faecalis can triphenyl tetrazolium reduced to an acidic azo dyes, appear as dark red colonies.
 
Formulation (per liter):
Third peptone 10g
Maltose 20g
Lactose 1g
Yeast extract powder 10g
NaCl 5g
Sodium azide 0.4g
Glycerophosphate 10g
Agar 15g
Triphenyl tetrazolium 0.1g
Bromocresol purple 0.015g
Final pH7.2 ± 0.2
 
Storage: Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
